Congratulations drutt on finding the treasure hidden in Glasgow. The clues led to CD shop Classics in the City on Dundas Street, and to a hiding place behind The Rest is Noise by Alex Ross.

Thanks, drutt, for leaving a BookCrossing journal entry:
Found it! I was dropping my sister off at Queen Street station and thought that JoeSoap and I may as well have a go at finding the book. Thanks so much; we’re both really looking forward to the concert on Friday. The book looks good too!
We hope you and our Edinburgh winner, Bibliomane, enjoy the books and the Bass Notes concerts this weekend.

Would you like to win a copy of award-winning writer Kate Grenville’s first novel, Lillian’s Story, plus a pair of tickets to see the Scottish Chamber Orchestra perform a world premiere this Friday evening? If you’re in Glasgow, you’ve got a chance. We’ve tucked the tickets in the book and hidden the book in a secret location. All you need to do is solve the clues and go and collect your prize.
The latest clue is a picture of the street where you’ll find the treasure:

The other two clues will direct you to the right shop (another clue!) and then help you to find the treasure when you’re there: Glasgow treasure hunt clues.

Congratulations Bibliomane on following the clues and finding Edinburgh’s hidden book! Bibliomane has left a message on BookCrossing.com so that we know the book is safe:
Just home after finding this treasure hunt prize! Thank you, The Lost Book – and Su-a! Looking forward to the concert and the read!
Where was the book hidden? It was at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on the High Street.

The Scottish Storytelling Centre is the home of Scotland’s stories, right at the heart of the City’s Old Town. The award-winning Royal Mile building is open to visitors and free to visit, and the café is the ideal place to meet and swap a story or two (it also sells a great ginger beer!).
The Centre presents a year-round programme of live storytelling performances, theatre, literature and visual arts events, for adults, children and families. Over the next month, the Centre’s programme is packed with events for all ages and interests, from a moving storytelling theatre piece by Jo Clifford, Leave to Remain, this week, to exciting activities based on stories of travel, exploration and expeditions from 11th May. Visit www.scottishstorytellingcentre.co.uk for more information, or drop in and visit!

I’ve got a couple of events to tell you about.
During May the highlight of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra‘s programme is the Bass Note concert, which includes a world premiere of Haflidi Hallgrímsson’s concerto for double bass. As you know, if you’re in Edinburgh or Glasgow you can win tickets to the concerts on our treasure hunt.
The SCO will be also be giving away free books at the concerts – the latest from our sponsors Canongate: The Changeling by Robin Jenkins and Lilian’s Story by Kate Grenville.
Why not go along? Full programme details are on the SCO’s website.
And, Cora Bissett (the voice of Aileen Adler) has a production on at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow at the end of May: Love’s Time’s Beggar – Stories of Love, Loss and Longing. Dates are 20-22 May, tickets £8/£6, and the box office number is 0141 552 4267.

Here’s a slightly belated blog post. It was sent to us by Su-a Lee on Friday, when she was hiding treasure in Edinburgh for our treasure hunt. Su-a says:
It’s all very exciting… I’ve made a few discoveries of my own on this treasure hunt! Hot from concealing your treasure, I’ve sat down (not too far from the said item…is that another clue!!!?) and am enjoying the most delicious home-made lunch! Especially impressive is the Ginger beer. When I complimented them on it they even gave me the recipe. I shall be coming back!
To find the treasure Su-a’s hidden (a book containing a pair of tickets for an SCO concert on Saturday) you’ll need to follow the clues.

Welcome to everyone who’s visiting from Sean Biggerstaff’s website!
The treasure hunt is over now – but, yesterday (24 July 2009) we launched the sixth and final episode of The Lost Book. Watch it now and enjoy Sean’s brilliant voice performance.
Oh, and have you seen our interview with Sean?
Ahoy, me hearties! We’ve hidden the booty and it time ye got a-huntin’…
Here’s how it works. Two pairs of tickets to the SCO’s Bass Notes concerts have been hidden in two books: one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow. To win book and tickets, all you have to do is find them!

We’re going to give two clues for each city. The first will send you to the correct location. The second, once you’ve got to the right place, will tell you exactly where you’ll find a bright green Scottish Chamber Orchestra envelope. Once you have the envelope, take it to a member of staff who will give you your free book. The tickets are tucked inside.
It really is that easy! So… check out the clues:
Edinburgh clue – thanks to Su-a Lee, cellist with the SCO.
Glasgow clue – thanks to Alison Mitchell, the SCO’s Principal Flute.
And, if you’re our winner, please let us know! Go to www.BookCrossing.com, enter the BCID number you’ll find on the inside front cover of the book, and leave us a message so that we know the book and tickets are safe with you.
Update: both the Edinburgh and Glasgow prizes have been found.

If you’re in Edinburgh, there’s a copy of The Changeling by Robin Jenkins (donated by Canongate) plus a pair of tickets to the Bass Notes concert on Saturday 9th May (donated by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra) waiting for you… if you can find them!
Clue 1:
An Edinburgh cellist named Su-a,
Likes stories performed for the viewer,
The street is not low,
The place Netherbow,
If you’ve worked it out, then pursue her!
Got it? Well, get over there quickly! This place is open Mondays to Saturdays 10 ’til 6. It’s not open Sunday. Once you’re there you’ll need to solve the next clue to find a green envelope, then take it to the desk and claim your prize.
Clue 2:
I’m hiding deep and low,
in amongst witches and wizards,
in the cosy red corner.
Good luck and happy treasure hunting!
And, if you’re our winner, please let us know! Go to www.BookCrossing.com, enter the BCID number you’ll find on the inside front cover of the book, and leave us a message so that we know the book and tickets are safe with you.

If you’re in Glasgow, you could win a copy of Lilian’s Story by Kate Grenville (donated by Canongate) plus a pair of tickets to the Bass Notes concert on Friday 8th May (donated by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra). All you’ve got to do is find them!
Clue 1:
When Alison tires of her flute,
There’s only one possible route,
‘Tween Bath Street and station,
A classic location,
You’ll follow if you are astute!
Got it? Well, get over there quickly! This place is open 9 ’til 6 Mondays to Saturdays and Sunday 1:30 to 3:30. Once you’re there you’ll need to solve the next clue to find a green envelope; when you have the envelope take it to the desk and claim your prize.
Clue 2:
I’m neither high or low.
I’m sitting beside and opposite the first composer that SCO are playing tonight.
I’m hiding behind some noise.
Update, 5th May: the treasure has been found!

The treasure hunt is on! As I type, flautist Alison Mitchell is in Glasgow hiding a book. She’s sent us this update:
The train has left and I’m on my way to Glasgow. I’m going to plant some treasure and now need to think of some clues for y’all… (do pirates say that?!). Once I’ve delivered the treasure it’s off to the RSAMD for my teaching and then it’s off to City Halls for a rehearsal and concert with the SCO and Christian Zacharias.
Happy hunting!
Alison
(Treasure = a copy of Lilian’s Story by Kate Grenville plus a pair of tickets to the SCO Bass Notes concert!)
Clues will be posted this afternoon at 3:30pm.

We’re having such fun planning this treasure hunt!
Quick update: this Friday (1st May), two players from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra (flautist Alison and cellist Su-a) will each hide a book at a secret location, one in Edinburgh, one in Glasgow. We’ll post clues to their location here at 3:30 on Friday afternoon. If you follow the clues correctly, you won’t just get a free book, you’ll win a pair of tickets to an SCO concert!
The concert is something special. It’s called “Bass Notes” and includes a world premiere of Concerto Op 42 ‘Sonnambulo’ for double bass and orchestra by Icelandic composer Haflidi Hallgrímsson. Dates are: Friday 8th May, 7:30pm, Glasgow City Halls and Saturday 9th May, 7:30pm, Edinburgh Queens Hall.

Good news: the lovely Scottish Chamber Orchestra are giving away two pairs of tickets to readers of this blog – one pair for a concert in Edinburgh, the other for a Glasgow concert.
Better news: the concerts include the world premiere of a new concerto by Icelandic composer Haflidi Hallgrímsson. The piece is a double bass concerto, written for the SCO’s principal Bass Nicholas Bayley (who says “I feel very privileged to be performing the world premiere – it’s an opportunity of a lifetime for me”).
Even better news: it’s a treasure hunt! We’ll be hiding the tickets in books, which two players from the orchestra (flautist Alison Mitchell and cellist Su-a Lee, who’ve both performed on The Lost Book soundtrack) will hide at secret locations, one in each city.
I’ll tell you more about the concerts tomorrow, and then the books will be released on Friday afternoon. We’ll be posting clues here on the blog so that you can track them down!
