We need your help in finalising a few details for episode 6. You can still vote for which library Otto will be working in – the poll’s in the sidebar to the right. Also in the sidebar is another poll, so vote now to decide on Professor Catherine Remi’s new job/adventure from the following suggestions:
1. Teaching scuba diving (ta Kiwi)
2. An expedition to the central Rift Valley (good collaboration between TheLetterB and Lulu, with a bit of input from Tom)
3. Research into higher levels of conciousness (thanks Wearealldoomed)
You can also still help us with a book recommendation if you know the password from The Lost World.
Finally, we need some new suggestions from you! Kyle’s getting in the drinks at the Sheep Heid Inn – but what’s his poison? Tell us what you think Kyle and Aileen’s favourite drinks would be by leaving us a comment (by the way, stereotyped suggestions involving a pint for Kyle and “a glass of white wine for the lady” are not going to win!).

Kyle is a G&T man, you can tell from his face. Aileen’s a journalist and her first serious boy friend was Irish. She drinks Guinness.
Saying that, they may both be very sensible and have black coffee (her) and tomoato juice (him).
Does the Sheep’s Heid have a cocktail menu?
I love plan A! Plan B is far too sensible. As for the cocktails, I’ve asked Watson to tweet a query to @Sheepheid (he’s not happy about helping to plan Aileen’s date with Kyle, but I’ve promised to take him to the park to chase sticks if he co-operates). They do have a supply of fruit-flavoured snuff behind the bar, which struck me as pretty exotic…
Sorry, we can rustle up a fantastic classic Pimms No 1, but no cocktail list I’m afraid (do an impressive range of shandies count?).
Given the strong literary flavour of the story what about a “Dr Johnson’s Definitive” Ale from the Broughton Brewery as a tipple. You would be hard pressed to find a more alcohol/literary connection than a beer named after the greatest lexicographer of all time! Or perhaps they should simply have a pint of Deuchars IPA each in the manner of Rebus and his fellow investigative quaffers!
Don’t forget to grab a few Gravy Bones from the bar for Watson…
Kind regards,
DJ @ The Sheep Heid Inn
You stock Gravy Bones?!
*wags tail*
A pint of Dr Johnson’s Definitive Ale would be just the ticket for Aileen.
Kyle could have a Guinness and black (which is an abomination and if ordered in Dublin would ensure the whole pub laughed at you), or maybe a rum and coke.
Alternatively, if Kyle is trying to play the romantic they could share a jug of pimms.
A bloody mary with a stick of celery in it for Aileen.
Dr Johnson’s is a good choice for Aileen, but I’m not so sure about Kyle – surely he’s a whisky man? Given the context… Flaming Heart? Sheep Dip?
