So far, Professor Catherine Remi doesn’t get a mention in episode 6.
She’s the only member of Sally Challenger’s expedition team we’ve met. She was rejuvenated during the expedition and now looks much younger than her seventy-eight years. She was captured by Grazp and set free by Lyn and Otto.
So, what’s she going to do next? Both Kiwi and Tom have pointed out that she’ll be hounded if the rejuvenation is made public. So, she can’t exactly go back to work.
I’m thinking that she’ll probably create herself a new identity as her own daughter. Then, she could do anything she liked. What do you reckon her perfect second career would be? Would she go back into science or would she do something completely different? Leave us a comment with your ideas.
We’re still taking votes on where Aileen and Kyle’s first date should be (read about the options or simply vote in the sidebar poll to the right). We’re also looking for ideas about Otto’s new job. Oh, and if you know the password from The Lost World you can help us with a book recommendation!

Professional eyelash curler (driven by her interest in eyelashes, as she doesn’t have any herself).
To be a researcher, you need to be curious. If you are a researcher enough to go on a dangerous expedition while already being of a high age.. then one can safely assume that curiosity is rather big. I doubt she would sit back and do something boring. She would either get back into research of something, or look for a new expedition to join and explore. Anything that piques her interest and needs a sharp mind to unravel.
Prof Remi was still obviously enjoying her work while in her seventies, hence going on the expedition with Sally Challenger. She could stay in the field she was in and develop her ideas, publish papers and leap up the academic job structure (becoming the youngest professor at her university), and partake in lots of research trips.
But if she has a large insurance policy, she (as her daughter) could be rich when she (as Prof Remi) is declared dead. Then she could marvel at her more youthful joints and body and take on a more physical job, like teaching scuba diving.
Liking the insurance policy idea!!!
What would a very curious person whose inherited a fortune but who has no eyelashes do? Googling eyelashes led me to the Wikipedia claim that “Hadza women pluck their eyelashes completely.” A bit more Wikipedia-ing tells me that “The Hadza people, or Hadzabe’e, are an ethnic group in central Tanzania, living around Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and in teh neighboring Serengeti Plateau.” The central Rift Valley sounds like a brilliant place for an adventure!! Plus her money would go further because “the Hadza are the only people in Tanzania not taxed locally or by the national government.”
Ooh, fantastic! The Rift Valley is fascinating to anyone interested in human evolution, which as a scientist Remi is bound to be. Perhaps she heads back there and is responsible for discovering a primitive pair of fossilized eyelash tweezers, proving that our hominid ancestors were also interested in their appearance (or is there a functional reason for plucking one’s eyelashes?).
Maybe she could study further and become a psychiatrist. Secretly, Professor Remi likes crazy people. Maybe she can discover if insane people are actually just insane, or has their mind journeyed on to a higher level of conciousness? Remembering that back at the temple, something happened to her when she tried to enter it and she momenterily lost control of herseld. Meeting a subject used by Grazp who had displayed unusual cognitive characteristics only made her wonder: she’s unlocked one secret, maybe she can find the answer to just one more? She could use her insurance money to fund extensive research trips to meet people around the world for comparison, and get some eyelash implants while she’s at it.
Oh, maybe she could meet a young man while she’s at it? a Bohemian named Maksim?
