Right, we’ve been working to pull together all the various ideas and plot suggestions into a single story for episode 2 of The Lost Book. Here’s a brief outline: we’re working on the storyboards now. If you’d like to know where the ideas came from, take a look at the details in Plotting Episode 2. If you’ve got any thoughts or comments, leave us a message.
FADE IN:
Kyle and Aileen speak on the phone.
Kyle gives an update on his investigations. He’s interviewed the head librarian who suggests there might be a facsimile of Sally Challenger’s journal at Doc Rebus’s rare book shop in Iowa City. He’s also heard hints that the shop is a front for the mysterious Invisible Inc. who might have information about “K.B.E.”.
Then, Kyle’s boss walks in and finds him on the phone to Aileen. Kyle hangs up and Aileen doesn’t know what will happen to him.
In Iowa City, Aileen visits Doc Rebus’s. She uses her press pass as cover – she says she’s writing a story about the missing book for the Daily Gazette. The shop has a copy of the Challenger manuscript.
Aileen reads the first page, but when she turns over she discovers that the rest of the pages have been torn out!
The bookseller (our nameless new character) is suddenly keen to get rid of them. Watson sniffs the book to get the scent of whoever has the missing pages, while Aileen drops clumsy hints about Invisible Inc.
It does no good, and they are asked to leave. But, the bookseller surreptitiously passes Aileen a note. It says: “Copper Beeches Café, noon tomorrow”. As Aileen looks at it the words gradually fade out, leaving a blank piece of paper.
THE END
