We haven’t got any more story! We need your help to decide what happens next.

First, watch episode 1. Do it now, before reading any further. Here be spoilers!

Aileen’s had a few shocks. A book has been stolen, she’s a suspect, and her mum’s been arrested. But, she’s pretty tough. She’s determined to find out who’s taken the missing book.

So, what clue do you think she’s following – where is it leading her and why? Leave us a comment with your ideas. Keep your message under 30 words if you can: let’s start discussing ideas quickly!

1. John - Friday, 30 January 2009

I think Aileen needs to find out about that bone. Perhaps she could go to the Natural History Museum in London to ask if they know what it is?

2. Nadia - Friday, 30 January 2009

She should find out what was in the manuscript. She should go to interview someone from the expedition – maybe she could go to Belgium to talk to Professor Remi?

3. Anna - Friday, 30 January 2009

“B” could stand for “bibliophile” or “bibliomaniac”. Aileen should ask some bibliophiles (the Alcuin Society?) if they know of any biblioclasts.

4. M.J. - Saturday, 31 January 2009

Shouldn’t she check out the scene of the crime? Seems to me she needs to head to the library. And what about Mum? Wouldn’t her daughter try to see what’s up with the arrest? Is Mum being held, or has she been released? Perhaps Mum noticed some small thing that would be helpful and a talk with her is in order.

Who’s Professor Remi, anyway?

5. Kati Clark - Saturday, 31 January 2009

She should definitley start by checking out the scene of the crime and
interviewing some of the staff. Maybe there’s a retired staff member who has seen the book in the past. What about CCTV footage of the crime scene and/or the sorrounding area? And where was her Mum working when she pulled the plug….

6. Anna - Saturday, 31 January 2009

M.J. is right, these things need to be done, but I think Aileen can trust Kyle to do that. (I like Kyle — he should be part of the investigation!)

7. Helen - Saturday, 31 January 2009

Brilliant idea, Anna! So, MJ and Kati’s plan to check out the crime scene and interview people happens – but Kyle deals with that so that Aileen’s free to investigate elsewhere. I’m glad it means Kyle stays in the story (I like Kyle too! I’m not sure if Aileen does – vote in the sidebar poll to decide…)

I reckon her Mum must know something, too. I wonder what…?

Is the Alcuin Society real? I love the idea of hunting for “biblioclasts”!

8. Tom - Monday, 2 February 2009

Aileen is a suspect, so I doubt she would be allowed on the crime scene. If she wants to have a look and a sniff there, she’ll need to sneak in with Watson. Maybe Kyle can help there?

Otherwise she’ll need to find out where that bone comes from, what those letters KBE mean and what that book was about. Sounds like she needs to interview some specialists on the subject. All for a normal article of course, and absolutely nothing to do with any police investigations of course.

Hello
Just in case you need any inspiration, here’s a story about some real-life book thieves. What perfectly horrid people!

10. Pomme - Tuesday, 3 February 2009

I also think the content of the book must be important. The thieves obviously didn’t steal the book just for it’s money value. There’s something in it that they don’t want be seen. Trying to figure out what that is might help figuring out who did it.

11. Julian - Tuesday, 3 February 2009

KBE could stand for Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Amongst other worthies the KBE was conferred upon Charles Darwin’s grandson, Charles Galton Darwin, physicist, Edinburgh University Professor and President of the Eugenics Society. A template for a criminal mastermind if ever there was one!

12. P4/5 Pentland Primary - Thursday, 5 February 2009

Maybe Aileeen should go back to the library and investigate to see if she can find any clues.
The dog could be a criminal master mind who is undercover.
Aileen could have been tricked to go down to London.
Maybe the policeman is in on the theft and he has tricked her because the criminal wants her.
The person driving the bus is a criminal and the bus locks her in so they can pick her brains to get better treasure.
P4/5 ideas from Pentland Primary

13. Stephanie Watson P4/5 - Thursday, 5 February 2009

The people or the thing who took the stuff from the libray are on the bus and kidnapped Aileen.

14. Connor - Thursday, 5 February 2009

I think that the dog will lead Aileen to a train station and she will get kidnaped. She will get taken to a fake of the book and then on a train back and get arrested .

15. Lewis Harley P4/5 - Thursday, 5 February 2009

As the bus headed norh the bus stopped but there was no one there. The bus driver set the bus on fire and he abandoned the bus, he was part of the criminal gang. They wanted to get rid of Alieen and the evidence.

16. Connor - Thursday, 5 February 2009

KBE could stand for Kyle bad for ever

17. Connor - Thursday, 5 February 2009

The person that will kidnap Aileen is profeser chalenger

18. snaknap - Wednesday, 25 February 2009
